Papertrey March Blog Hop Challenge

Blog Hop

We had several lovely inspiration photos this month. This was my favorite:

It was quite a unique inspiration and at first I was baffled on what I would make.
Then while stamping with the 'Fancy That' set I got an idea:

I wish I could make 20 more of these! I really like how they turned out, but my fingers are so soar from pushing and pulling the thread through card stock! I even pre-poked my holes. If you sew more do you stop getting soar fingers? =)

I also tried a card using 'Songbirds':

I tried a thicker string (didn't work as well) and added some seed beads for fun.

Thanks for stopping by and happy hopping!
Noelle

  6. What a difference a little stitching makes on these stamps! Just lovely. (Maybe a thimble to help prevent sore fingers in the future? lol)

  9. Oh my, the embroidered detail just is gorgeous on your cards. I admire your satin stitching skill! You have a very good eye for choosing which stamps to work with. The diagonal threads on the panel corners look great too.

  10. WOW!! these turned out amazingly!! : ) the perfect images for this technique.

Tip: try poking the holes in your cs with a piercing tool before you actually put you needle and thread in your cs. It will really help those sore fingers : )

  12. Know what? I think you win the creativity award! (if there isn't one, there should be, right?) These are brilliant and beautiful, and should be keepsakes for their recipient! And a PS to your question: as a needleworker for years, you learn to use a thimble, yes, you develop callouses after a while, which helps!!!

  14. Very nice. You did a great job. It wasn't as easy as it sounded :) Yes your fingers do get used to the sewing but who thought of doing it on paper.. Very cool.
Like you I will try using it again it was a fun challenge.

  16. Now that's what I would have liked to do!!! Perfect satin stitching and beautiful cards. Didn't you find it hard to pierce holes that closely together on cardstock? I had so much trouble.

  20. Stunning cards! I use a bookbinders needle or a tapestry needle for sewing on cardstock and especially tapestry needles have a rounded tip (so no pricking of fingers). The tapestry needles are available at the big box stores and many Walmart.
