PANTONE CHIP INSPIRED CARDS

A lot of the time I am drawn to a simple graphic look and Lexi's challenge was right up that alley! Her cards looked so fun I had to find time to try it:

I played with Summer Sweetness - my first PTI set I ever bought =)

Words from Swoosh, Pretty Petals, and One Big Happy. I did some dry embossing for the back grounds.

Day 8 PTI Anniversary

Color Pop

Today's Challenge:

Create a new card using at least three colors selected with the Color Pop Fortune Teller. Feel free to add in whatever neutrals you like.

How fun was this! My girls hadn't seen a paper fortune teller before.

I got the colors Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry fizz, and New Leaf.

Such bright and happy colors I had to try some ink smooshing and bring out my 'Summer Sweetness' set:

I need to practice my smooshing =) it was more spotted than smooshed but still fun.

Creative Card Borders Using Non-border Dies

I thought I'd try one more border with the popsicle die:

It was a fun way to use some of the HOT pink embossing powder my aunt gave me =)

First step: study the picture for a few days

Step two: sketch a few (too many) ideas

Step three: collect supplies that match picture

 Step four: Have a blast and see what happens...

I had to play with gingham, buttons, stitches, and of course my Papertrey Ink popsicles =)

I cut felt for the fist time with my dies and that was awesome!

And then I wanted to try to make that rustic background and a CUTE banner.

It was such a fun picture I wish I had time to make more!

Pop Up Die Cuts

I didn't think I was going to join this weeks challenge. My BIG challenge was that I only own one set of dies so far...you guessed it...the cute popsicles =) And I didn't think it would make a good pop up. Then I got this idea:

A happy popsicle =)

I guess it is more of a 'lift' up die cut, but it was fun.

Masking with Die Cuts 

I had no plans to make any more cards this week until (while doing my dishes) I watched this video:

Sprinkle of Salt TechniqueI thought how cool would that background be with a masked out shape! So I had to try it:

Here is the masked out popsicles with a watercolor salt background. I think they are pretty and could have stopped here.

But I thought I'd dress them up a little more. They are now glitter embossed with seed bead sprinkles!

Papertrey Ink is so awesome! I have learned so much from watching the their videos and this latest  was no exception:

It's fun to see a scribble come to life

I masked off popsicles and stars then watercolored and stamped some backgrounds

Stamped a popsicle in the masked area then gave it some sparkle

This glitter popsicle adds dimension and pops off the page

Stamped a popsicle in the masked area then gave it some sparkle. Since my background colors and my stamped colors matched I felt I need the sparkle to help the stamp stand out. Last a star embellishment for fun! 

This glitter popsicle also pops off the page and one more star embellishment.

Masking was so fun and I can't wait to add new dies to my collection so I can't try this some more!

God has truly Blessed America and I am so thankful for our country and all who keep us free. Wishing all a wonderful Independence Day!

I just watched this Papertrey Ink video and it was so awesome! 

SAF 2013: Scent-imentals

I knew I had to make a scented popsicle!

The popsicle smells like 'Blastin' Berry Cherry' - too fun!
You almost want to lick it =)

I also found a more transparent piece of vellum than my last vellum experiment and texture embossed it.

Hmmm...what can I make scented next!

Vellum I'll be honest not my favorite material, but to break outside of your norm is a good thing.

So I thought I would try the de-embossing technique on vellum.

 It worked, not as well as I would have hoped =(  There are popsicles all over my vellum overlay but it's hard to get a picture of them! I then stamped right onto the vellum and embossed with a clear sparkle...also hard to get a picture of =)

I tried again. This time making the sparkly popsicle a 3D element instead.

I was inspired by the use of washi tape and string in the example! I hope to remember that and use it more.

I didn't know if I could pull this technique off. It took a few tries, but I liked this cards end result. I even got the try the 'loops of string' that I've been seeing and wanting to try =)
